and what was your first experiance getting it
I've just gotten my first fake seemingly neverbeenissued Coach bag on Canal Street in NYC. When I say neverbeenissued, I've looked on the internet, and there is no real bag that resembles mine. I think going into back rooms of stores on Canal street is like an American pasttime. It's an experiance every woman should have either as a teen or as an adult. I also feel that, even though it's illegal to sell these knockoffs, it should be considered legal to sell them in the vendors at Canal street since selling designer knockoffs is so common there. Do you agree?
My wife has Louis Vuitton bags, Coach, Versace, and a Donna Sharp. Yeah, right.
They are all fakes, as far as I know. They sell them every where in Hong Kong very inexpensive. I believe I paid about 12 bucks for her "versace" there and the Donna Sharp was a bit more maybe 20 bucks. I did get the Coach bag on Canal street from a guy on the street and her Louis Vuitton I got in Singapore. Those cost a bit more closer to 80 bucks apiece.
I dunno. I sometimes feel bad I know those companies have a living to make and all, but so do the people knocking them off, I guess. I think it is quite silly that a handbag can cost between 100 bucks and up to and over $1000 the Versace we have would be like $1400 if it were real.
So, I also see it as an adventure and probably a little wrong. ah well.
My trip to buy a fake designer bag on canal street is one of the highlights of my last trip to New York. My girlfriend wanted to get a fake bag, so we took the subway to Canal Street. This guy came up to us and asked if we wanted designer sunglasses. We said no, handbags. He took us over and showed us some bags he had in a garbage bag. My friend wanted a different brand, so he took us to another guy. This guy said "follow me" and stupidly we followed. He took us to what appeared to be a legitimate handbag booth on the street. He told the woman what we were looking for. She flipped a light switch, pushed on the back wall and a door opened. Again, we stupidly followed her in. (luckily nothing bad happened, but it could have). We were inside a tiny triangular shaped room with handbags from floor to ceiling. I hadn't intended to buy anything, but I ended up picking out two bags, one of them a Coach bag. I paid $60 for both bags. Two years later I still use the bag almost daily and it has held up very well. Like yours, I did a search on the Coach site and couldn't find a bag like mine at all. I had been told that the fake bags don't hold up, but mine is in perfect condition. And, it's my favorite bag. I get lots of compliments on it.
So, are you saying that just because alot of the vendors sell them there, that they should make it legal to do so? We could expand upon that, and say that if a lot of people started running a red light then we should go ahead and make that legal, air max femmes, too? I don't think the law works that way.
I'm not sure that this kind of thinking makes sense, or if it's just being used to justify making a purchase of something that you know is illegal? Having had my own designs stolen for knockoffs, there is no way I would feel the need to experience going into the back rooms of places like this, I'm sorry. I don't need a designer purse that bad.
I just couldn't live with myself knowing I had a something that took income from the legitimate seller/designer and their employees, and also was merely a cheap copy of something else. It's just not the same.
Well, I have heard that there is a law for Canal street where they cannot have the real name of the designer/company on the items sold. I've seen a picture of a socalled 'Puma' sneaker with the fake word, 'Pmua' on it instead.
What I meant is that Canal street though it may not be the only place in the US has it's own past time of getting fake bags. In some, very minute sense, it lets those of us who know we'll never own a real bag like that have a chance to feel like we can. We buy them for the feeling we get as we walk down the street, feeling like we have the real thing when we know we don't and most people can't tell. It's probably not all about celebrity and status as it is for what it means to us to have it.
It's not right to worship false gods, as the 10 commandment says, and the bags don't last long so I'm told but it just makes us feel special to have something that looks like what we can never achieve.
I'm sorry, Poppet, that your designs were stolen because they must have been really good. I'd never say it's right to steal, but to the people who buy (not sell) it makes them feel better.
